Day Trips

I'm not sure how others feel about day trips, you know, taking an early morning drive to a destination for some new activity and then driving back home. Some people may find this exhausting and get nothing out of it. Others find it exhilarating and it gives them energy. Others may take a day trip just to get out of their own heads for a few hours. For me, it depends on what the day trip will be. If I am day tripping for a hike then it is tiring yet energizing, full of thoughts yet head clearing, visually stimulating yet calming. Other times, like today for instance, it is a chance to meet new people while taking in a JS Bach music festival. While at the event, I met a lovely couple celebrating 50 years of marriage and had a passion for classical music. I had dinner with a new friend originally from Germany and had a great conversation. This sort of day trip can expand my consciousness and help me learn to appreciate viewpoints from other cultures and perspectives. This also helps me grow as a person. Whatever the reason for taking a day trip I always try to reflect on what it meant for me, did I learn anything, did I calm myself for the week ahead, or was it simply an experience that made me happy. What is your thought on day trips? Exhilarating, exhausting, calming, annoying...? Love to hear your thoughts.
