How many people have been to a fund raiser?  My wife has worked as the Executive Director for several organizations over the years.  This has given me the opportunity to attend many fund-raising events, either for her organization or other organizations as a reciprocal event.  I thoroughly love attending these functions.  Partly for the people I meet at these but also for the fact that we can do some good by bidding on the silent and live auctions.  I feel fortunate that I am able to contribute to these non-profit organizations so they can continue the valuable and much needed work they perform.  The fund-raising events I have attended are for animal shelters, child welfare, addiction programs, and others.  Some people might think people who attend these events are only looking for ways to buy cool items cheap at the silent auctions, which is probably true for some people.  But for the most part I find most people who attend fund raisers generally want to help these organizations and enjoy a fund-raising event because the get a good time but are still donating to a worthy cause. In many cases, people donate generously. The live auctions seem to be the event where people will be the most generous and often bid higher than the object for bid is worth.  I attended a fund raiser tonight that was fun and rewarding.  There was one item on the live auction that I really wanted but knew it would go for more than $5 grand.  I got in the bidding but lost it fairly quickly.  I’m happy for the person who won the bid, but I am also happy that I was able to help bid the item up to higher level. It actually feels good to help these non-profit organizations fulfill their goals.  I recommend that anyone who has been fortunate in life and is able to contribute that they seek out these fund-raising events or even donate directly to a non-profit that touches your heart or that you feel a connection to.  You have no idea how much good your donations do for people and animals in your community.  Donate generously if you can.
